Illuminae By Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff Review

This is one of my friends favourite books and she has been recommending it to non stop for a while so I thought I might as well give it a go and see what all the hype is about.

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival mega-corporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than a speck at the edge of the universe. Now with enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra — who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to evacuate with a hostile warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A plague has broken out and is mutating with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a web of data to find the truth, it’s clear the only person who can help her is the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.

Taken from goodreads

So as soon as you start reading then you notice that the style that this book is not what you would consider normal and I instantly fell in love with it as it makes the reading experience memorable and somehow it makes the sci adventure that you go on that much better.

The characters are great, I loved the character progression with Kady and seeing her go from someone who was in turmoil due to breaking up with her boyfriend to trying to find a way to save his life. Aidan is the AI system and lets just say I have never loved a computer more in my life.

Due to how the story is written with numerous different logs of conversations including thoughts from the AI it is a journey but the overall story is really really good with a mixture of gore, mixed with action mixed with sci fi mixed with romance it is all there and I loved every second of it.

I can see why this is a personal favourite book of hers as it has now become one of mine. If you get a chance to read then I recommended that you give it a go as soon as possible.
