Bec by Darren Shan Review

We are continuing this series still and I have started to really enjoy it especially with Grubbs being involved so let’s see what this one has to bring.

As demonic Fomorii ravage their land, Bec and a band of warrior companions leave their devastated rath to answer a plea for help. An orphaned priestess-in-training, Bec hopes the journey will help her solve the mysteries of her birth. But fighting demons has a steep price…

Taken from goodreads

Once again we get another book that doesn’t have Grubbs in and once again I found myself missing him and his humour that he brings to the story. However, I found myself enjoying this book a lot more than I did then the demon thief mainly because I found Bec to be a much more interesting character to read about.

The story itself was actually quite interesting and I am sort of intrigued where it can go after the ending of the book which makes me just want to jump straight into the next volume to see if we get an explanation.

With this book being set more in the past we get a little bit of back story about a specific demon which I enjoyed a lot as it is a character I am wanting to know a little bit about.

I found the side characters to be quite a joy to read about in this book, they helped progress the story along nicely as well as making me want to know more about them, but we didn’t get much of a back story on any of the side characters which was a bit of a let down.

I am starting to see what Darren Shan is doing with the books and why every other book is a different character but I still just want more Grubbs or at least another character that will at least bring some humour into the mix when Grubbs isn’t involved.
